Argentina - We stroll through the shopping streets on our way to Plaza de San Martin, where the bike tour to the La Boca district begins. Ana is our guide for the ride. We put on our helmets and follow her on our mountain bikes. Along the way, Ana tells us about the British Clock Tower and the Falklands Monument. Then we cycle straight through traffic toward the harbor. Crossing intersections is quite a process. Ana mainly sticks to the sidewalks and often crosses intersections diagonally. It’s not always clear which traffic light we’re supposed to follow, and it even seems like we’re running red lights at times. But everything goes smoothly. We ride over the Puente de la Mujer into the Puerto Madero district. Here, we enter the Costanera Sur city park, a green area located between the city and the river estuary. The park is peaceful, with the city's skyscrapers in the background. From here, we continue on to the artist district La Boca. La Boca is one of the oldest and most famous working-class neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. In the past, poor immigrants lived in the brightly colored houses. Today, many artists live here, and the area is popular with tourists. We walk around the neighborhood for half an hour. Finally, we cycle back to the center, passing La Bombonera stadium of the Boca Juniors football team. We bike straight through the city back to Plaza de San Martin.
