Australia - The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway offers a unique and breathtaking journey through the lush rainforests of Tropical North Queensland, Australia. This panoramic cableway stretches 7.5 kilometers, connecting the city of Cairns with the picturesque village of Kuranda, nestled in the green hills of the Atherton Tablelands. The Skyrail adventure begins in Smithfield, just outside Cairns, where visitors board gondolas that glide slowly above the rainforest canopy. Along the way, passengers enjoy spectacular views of the vibrant vegetation, winding streams, and cascading waterfalls below. There are two stops along the way — at Barron Falls and Red Peak — where visitors can get out to explore scenic lookouts and learn more about the rainforest's ecology and biodiversity. Once in Kuranda, visitors can soak up the artistic and relaxed vibe of this unique village, known for its creative community, artisan markets, and natural beauty. Kuranda offers a wide range of attractions, including the Kuranda Scenic Railway, a historic train journey back to Cairns through the mountains; the Kuranda Koala Gardens, home to koalas and other native animals; and the Kuranda Butterfly Sanctuary, filled with thousands of colorful butterflies. Kuranda also features many culinary delights, from local specialties and tropical cuisine to international dishes served in the village’s cafés, restaurants, and food stalls. It’s also a great spot for shopping, with a wide variety of handmade crafts, artworks, and souvenirs available at boutique shops and market stands.
