Canada - The Icefields Parkway is often called the most beautiful highway in the world. The road is a mountain pass with views of towering peaks and glaciers. Because the view from the bus isn’t equally good on every side, passengers often switch seats during the trip. The first stop is at Athabasca Falls. Here, we really notice how cold it is outside. We carefully slip along an icy path toward the frozen ice mass. A little further along the Icefields Parkway, we make a photo stop at Kitchener Mountain. From the viewpoint, you can see the glaciers. However, in the winter season, all the peaks are covered in white snow, making the glaciers harder to distinguish. Along the way, snow frequently blows across the road, creating beautiful scenes of the bus in front of us. At the Weeping Wall, we spot two tiny dots — two ice climbers scaling the frozen waterfall at a great height. Around 12:30 p.m., we arrive at the parking lot of a restaurant. It’s one of the few places open in winter. In the cozy decorated restaurant, we enjoy a full three-course meal. There is a lot of snow around the restaurant. The snow on the access road has been piled up and stands more than three meters high. At Lake Louise, we visit the Lake Louise Hotel, the frozen lake, and the ice sculptures in front of the hotel. Afterwards, we drive along the highway past Banff to Canmore.
