Singapore - The impressive Cloud Forest is one of the most remarkable attractions of Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. This enormous glass dome combines nature, technology, and architecture into a futuristic whole and offers visitors the experience of a tropical mountain rainforest at high altitude. As soon as you enter the conservatory, you are immediately greeted by a cooling mist and the sound of flowing water. The absolute centrepiece of the Cloud Forest is the spectacular artificial mountain, which is approximately thirty-five metres high. Along its surface cascades one of the tallest indoor waterfalls in the world. Around the mountain grow thousands of remarkable plants, including orchids, ferns, bromeliads, and exotic mosses from humid mountain regions around the globe. Thanks to the cool climate and high humidity, it feels as if you are standing in a cloud forest high in the tropical mountains. Visitors can slowly ascend along the vegetation via walking paths and suspension bridges. From the elevated platforms, there are stunning views over the dome and the futuristic skyline of Singapore. Along the way, the exhibition explains how fragile ecosystems such as cloud forests are and what the impact of climate change is on these unique natural environments. The Cloud Forest therefore serves not only a recreational but also an educational purpose. The architecture of the glass dome is equally impressive. The building is designed to allow as much natural light as possible while maintaining a controlled cool temperature. Smart systems are used to recycle rainwater and save energy. This combination of sustainability, exotic nature, and modern technology makes the Cloud Forest one of Singapore’s most fascinating attractions. In a warm tropical city, this cool green world offers a unique and calming experience.
