Cambodia - We get out at the most famous temple, Angkor Wat. The temple is most beautiful to visit in the afternoon due to the setting sun. Angkor Wat is remarkable because of its spectacular architectural design. We walk over the stone entrance bridge across the 200-meter-wide moat. Through the gateway, we enter the temple. Angkor Wat is as large as 100 soccer fields and one of the largest religious buildings in the world. Unfortunately, this also attracts many tourists. Probably every Korean, Japanese, and Chinese person knows that the afternoon light is the best. In the wide line, we stroll towards the central temple. From the old library, there is the classic photo moment of Angkor Wat. The reflection of the towers in the water is probably the most photographed angle of the Angkor temple. It’s not easy to take a photo without Japanese tourists in the frame. Through the columned gallery, we reach the bas-reliefs. It is very crowded here with groups, and our guide also tries hard to explain all the reliefs. He tends to be long-winded, and his jokes start to wear thin. The group begins to scatter. Some people walk ahead, while others take more time to look closely. Our guide tries to keep the group together and make sure we still have time to watch the sunset. Some irritation arises because we first have a three-hour break and then must rush. Not everyone is interested in the sunset and go back to the hotel on their own. Confusion reigns.
