Panama - Panama City is located on the isthmus of Central America. It boasts a remarkable skyline, nearly as dense and tall as that of Dubai. Panama City is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Panama. The city has a population of 880,691 residents, and including the suburbs, a total population of 1,272,672. The capital is situated on the Pacific Ocean at the entrance of the Panama Canal. It is the political and administrative center of the country and a major hub for international banking and trade. With a gross national product per capita averaging $11,700, Panama City has a dense skyline of mainly high-rise buildings and is surrounded by a large belt of tropical rainforest. Panama’s Tocumen International Airport, the largest and busiest in Central America, offers daily flights to major international destinations. Panama City was selected as the American Capital of Culture for 2003.
