Cuba - Trinidad is a characteristic old town from the colonial era. The center of Trinidad looks as if time has stood still. It is no coincidence that Trinidad is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the heights, the view over the red-colored roofs is a true experience. We walk over the cobblestone streets to the Plaza Mayor. On this square stands the cathedral of Trinidad and several merchant houses. These merchant houses are now museums. The cathedral is not yet open, so we first head towards Plaza San Francisco. Here, we visit the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco. In the tower of this church hangs the clock that is pictured in many travel guides. The staircase in the bell tower is narrow and not very sturdy, but everything goes well. From the bell tower, we have a beautiful view over the city and especially the red roofs. On the square in front of the church, a small band is practicing, completing the atmosphere. Back down, we continue exploring the town through the narrow streets. Unfortunately, Trinidad has become quite touristy, and you are frequently approached on the street for cigars, figurines, or lace. The cathedral on the central square is now open. After the visit, we settle on a terrace with African music from the slave period playing.
