Oman - This night feels cooler than the previous one. Wrapped in the warmth of my blanket, I get up briefly to use the restroom. As I step out of the tent, my gaze is drawn to the magnificent starry sky stretching above the desert. With a peaceful feeling, I pull the blanket over me again and fall into a deep sleep. After a hearty breakfast, we leave the desert and say goodbye to Ahmed at the gas station before returning to our bus. Our driver, Walkhim, takes us to Sur, a coastal town on the Arabian Sea. But before reaching Sur, we make a stop at the enchanting oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid. As we approach the mountain pass, we notice the road is challenging due to recent water flows that have washed away parts of it. Fortunately, construction workers are busy repairing the road surface, which gives us a reassuring feeling as we continue our drive to the oasis. Upon arrival at Wadi Bani Khalid, we are greeted by the crystal-clear water of the oasis, surrounded by impressive rock formations. I don’t hesitate and jump into the water, enjoying a refreshing swim among the rocks. Through a narrow passage, I reach a second pool, where I let myself be carried away by the peace and serenity of the surroundings. As I enjoy my time in the water, I see mountain goats high above us watching from the rocks — a beautiful sight that highlights the natural beauty of this oasis. With a sense of fulfillment and connection to nature, we continue our journey to Sur, knowing we’ve added another unforgettable experience to our trip.
