Suriname - We arrive safely in Paramaribo. We still have an hour to use the bicycles, so we decide to take another ride around Paramaribo. It takes a bit of getting used to the traffic. The city is congested, people drive on the left, and the traffic situation is not always clear. Soon, the five of us find ourselves riding against the traffic. A motorist quickly points this out by stopping in front of us. We stop briefly at the city’s large cemetery to take a photo and a little further on, we photograph the large wooden cathedral. After about an hour of cycling, we safely arrive back at the bike rental shop. The bicycles are thoroughly checked, and fortunately, everything is still in good condition. We take a one-dollar minibus back to the hotel, have a beer, and take a shower. In the evening, we find a cozy restaurant by the water. We sit on the terrace and have a drink. The menu is limited, mainly burgers, fries, and satay. That’s fine for today. The meal tastes great and is a welcome change from rice. We walk back to the hotel in about half an hour, stopping along the way for ice cream at KFC. By eleven o’clock, we are back at the hotel.
