United_States - Anyone visiting New York for the first time cannot ignore the Empire State Building. This skyscraper on the corner of 34th Street and 5th Avenue towers over the Big Apple. Entering the building at street level, I realize that it also houses regular office spaces. I join a stream of tourists, with the line confined between low barriers. In the corner, someone offers a hearing device for a personal tour of the top. I decline. After just over half an hour, I reach the ticket counter, and then the process moves quickly. A fast elevator whisks me up to the 80th floor. I climb the final floor by stairs. A magnificent view of New York unfolds before me. I see people walking along Fifth Avenue, and in the distance, the silhouettes of Wall Street.
