Pakistan - The Baltistan-Gilgit region, located in the north of Pakistan, is home to some of the highest mountains and largest glaciers in the world, mainly in the Karakoram range, which forms part of the Himalayas. Baltistan and Gilgit are known for their immense glaciers, with the Baltoro Glacier being one of the most famous. This glacier stretches for 63 kilometers and leads to some of the highest peaks in the world, including K2. The Biafo Glacier, another impressive glacier in the region, is about 67 kilometers long and, together with the Hispar Glacier, forms one of the longest continuous ice routes outside the polar regions. The Baltistan-Gilgit region is famous for its majestic mountain giants. K2, the second-highest mountain in the world at 8,611 meters, is the most iconic peak. Climbing K2 is considered one of the most difficult challenges for mountaineers. Other impressive peaks in the area include Broad Peak (8,051 meters), Gasherbrum I (8,080 meters), and Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters).
