South_Africa - Addo Elephant National Park is a nature reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, established in 1931 to protect the endangered Cape elephant population. Today, it is one of the largest and most successful conservation projects in South Africa’s history. Covering over 180,000 hectares, the park is home to a wide variety of species. Besides elephants, it hosts buffalo, lions, rhinos, leopards, hyenas, zebras, various antelope species, and numerous birds. The park is particularly known for its large elephant population, which has become a major attraction. Visitors can explore the park via game drives, horseback riding, walking, or mountain biking. Several routes lead through different park areas. Pick-up points and campgrounds are available for overnight stays. A key highlight is observing elephants up close at waterholes or dust-bathing in the sand. Several observation points allow visitors to view elephants closely in their natural environment. Addo Elephant National Park offers a unique opportunity to experience one of Africa’s iconic animals in the wild.
