Hungary - In one of the suburbs of Miskolc lies the Cave Bath of Miskolctapolca. When we arrive, it’s quite busy. At the parking lot near the bath, a boy tells us we can park for 2,000 forints, or for 800 per hour in a lot behind us. That lot also looks pretty full, and since there is supervision here, we decide to park with him. We receive a ticket. When we ask where the price is listed, the boy lowers the cost to 1,400 forints (still only €4.50). The reason for the sudden discount remains unclear. At the cave bath, we buy two tickets and change into swimwear. Essentially, the cave bath is a regular pool—except it’s built inside a cave. Through passages, we swim into the cave. Despite the crowd, it’s fun to swim through the corridors. At the back of the cave, there’s a dark chamber with ambient sounds that create a mysterious atmosphere. After just over an hour, we’ve seen all the passages and pools. We get dressed again and leave the bath.
