Belgium - Bruges is the capital and largest city of the Belgian province of West Flanders. It is also a world-famous tourist attraction. The city is located in the northwest of the country. The historic center is listed as a medieval city on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is oval-shaped and about 430 hectares in size. The entire municipality covers an area of over 13,840 hectares, including about 1,075 hectares in the sea near Zeebrugge. The city has approximately 117,000 inhabitants; about 20,000 of them live in the city center. Some places are so beautiful that they leave you speechless. The Beguinage is such a place where you walk around silently because its purity is almost indescribable. So take your time and also settle for a moment along the romantic Minnewater to enjoy this centuries-old scene. The three church towers of Bruges each define the Bruges skyline in their own way. The stately Belfry has long been the proud symbol of Bruges' independence and offers, after a steep climb, an unforgettable panorama. The brick tower of the Church of Our Lady, the tallest example in Europe, illustrates the craftsmanship of Bruges’ builders, and the tower of Saint-Salvator’s Cathedral has recently been fully renovated.
